This article is very important to every prospective batch C stream 1 & 2 Corp member. The Director General (DG) of NYSC, recently warn and advice all Corps members to mind their Dressing code. Anyone caught with indecent dressing on kaki uniform will face the punishment. NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim gave this warning today in his address to Corps Members at Kogi State Orientation Camp in Kabba.

He said NYSC Scheme would not condone improper dressing with its uniforms adding that all Corps Members must adhere strictly to the approved dress code for all events.

The NYSC boss however added that strict disciplinary measures would be applied on any erring Corps Member.

Speaking further, lbrahim appealed to the Corps Members to use the social media for the promotion of national unity and refrain from spreading unverified information and ‘hate speeches’.

He urged them to be patriotic and contribute their quota to the corporate existence of the country.

The NYSC Chief Executive tasked the Corps Members to maximize the opportunities of the service year to cultivate team spirit, integration and unity of purpose.

‘NYSC has a lot of potentials and opportunities, take advantage of the Orientation Exercise and promote love and unity, though in tongue we differ but in brotherhood we are the same’.

‘Wherever you are, keep your records clean and don’t let your actions today affect you in future’, he said.Ibrahim admonished them to integrate themselves into their host community and embark on projects that would affect their lives positively.

‘You must be security conscious wherever you are because your lives are precious to us and we don’t want you to go back to your parents incapacitated’.

‘Be agents of positive change, shun every form of criminality, cyber crimes, drug peddling, cultism and others’, he added.

The DG urged them to accept their posting in good faith but warned against lobbying for posting and induced rejection saying there is purpose for everything in life.

The Director-General also appealed to the Corps Members that would be participating as ad-hoc electoral officers during the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state to abide by the electoral law.

18 compulsory rules for corps members during camp orientation

The rules are designed to guide the conducts of the corps members to make the coordination of their activities easy throughout their orientation programs in the camps.

According to the NYSC, corps members who break these rules may be sent out of the camp or face a trial at the camp court where the punishment for the culprit will be decided.

If you are participating in the 2018 Batch B orientation programs, here are 18 NYSC rules you’ll have to comply with for three weeks as stated in the NYSC bye laws.

  1. Attend regularly, and participate, fully in all official engagements on the field, at lectures and all places of work.

Any member who comes late to any official engagement on the field, at lectures or places of work shall be tried by the Camp Court and, if found guilty, be liable to be decamped and sent out of the camp. The member shall only be allowed to come back for service by joining the next batch for the orientation exercise.

  1. Leaving camp without permission

Not leave orientation camp or absent himself from any official activity without the written consent of the State Coordinator but when absent from his duties on account of illness, ensure that such absences are covered by an “Excuse Duty Certificate” issued by a medical doctor then on duty at the camp.

Any member who leaves the camp without the permission from the State Coordinator shall be tried by the Camp Court and, if found guilty, be liable to be decamped and sent out of camp.

The member shall only be allowed to come back for service by joining the next batch for the orientation exercise.

  1. Not gamble within the premises

Any member who gambles shall be reported to the police for prosecution.

  1. Not be in possession of firearms or ammunition

Any member who flouts this rule shall be reported to the police for prosecution.

  1. No smoking

Not smoke, chew anything whatsoever, make or answer calls, while on parade and at any other time, not smoke in a prohibited area or throw lighted cigarette butts or lighted matches about the premises carelessly.

Any member who flouts this rule shall be tried by the Camp Court and, if found guilty, be liable to extra drill for thirty (30) minutes.

  1. Not get drunk

Any member found to be drunk shall be tried by the Camp Court and, if found guilty, be liable to extra drill and/or confinement to the camp rehabilitation room for thirty (30) minutes.

  1. Not receive visitors in the camp except on Saturdays, Sundays and public Holidays

Any member who flouts this rule shall be tried by the camp court and, if found guilty, be liable to extra drill and/or confinement to the camp rehabilitation room for thirty (30) minutes.

  1. Wear the various uniforms provided for the activities

Any member who refuses, fails or neglects to comply with this rule shall be tried by the Camp Court and, if found guilty, be liable to be decamped and sent out of the orientation camp

  1. Not keep animal pets in camp

Any member who brings animal pets to camp shall not be registered and if already registered, shall be decamped.

  1. Not take part in mob action

Any corps member who takes part in riot or mob action shall be reported to the police for prosecution.

  1. Not steal.

Any member who steals shall be reported to the police for prosecution

  1. Not take part in or organize night parties in camp without the written permission of the State Coordinator.

Any member who fails, refuses or neglects to comply with this rule shall be tried by the Camp Court and, if found guilty, be liable to extra drill and/or confinement to the camp rehabilitation room for thirty (30) minutes.

  1. Not be insubordinate or rude to camp officials

Any member who is rude to camp officials shall be tried by the Camp Court and, if found guilty, be liable to extension of service for (30) days on half pay.

  1. Not be in possession of Hard drugs like cocaine, Indian hemp, heroine etc.

Any member who is in possession of Hard drugs shall be reported to the police for prosecution.

  1. Not bring vehicles or motorcycles into the orientation camp

Any member who brings vehicles or motorcycles to camp shall not be registered, and if already registered, shall be decamped.

Such member shall only be allowed to return to service to join the next batch in the orientation camp

  1. Not bring forged documents for registration

Any member who brings forged document for registration shall be reported to the police for prosecution.

  1. Any member who organizes or engages in any form of secret cult activity shall be immediately suspended and the case referred to police.

Such member shall be allowed to return to service only if he is exonerated by the police investigation report.

  1. Not address the press on any policy issue without the prior written consent of the State Coordinator.

Any member who addresses the press on any policy issue without the written consent of the State Coordinator shall be tried by the Camp Court and, if found guilty, be liable to extension of service for thirty (30) days on half pay.
